| However, I have purposely delayed my response in order to see whether the obvious “high” that occurred in the wake of the workshop experience would last for more than a few days. I wanted to see whether there was an observable effect on the staff and a bottom-line impact on the company over a reasonable period of time. |
| It is now more than a month since the workshop took place, and I am pleased – and surprised – to tell you that the effect has indeed endured. The impact that you had on virtually everyone has been dramatic and deep. I am particularly impressed by the extent to which our people continually demonstrate the principles that you taught. They are demonstrating them in the way that they conduct themselves in their work, in how they relate to their workmates in general, and to management in particular. They seem to exhibit much more responsibility, self-discipline and, in some cases, wisdom I would never have guessed they had. I am particularly pleased with the improvement in all-round communication. All of this has had very positive effects on the company. |
| It was fortuitous that your workshop took place a few days before the news broke that one of our employees – with two brothers still working with the company – was soon to be indicted for having embezzled many thousands of dollars from the company. I am absolutely certain in my mind, and Robert (my partner) agrees with me entirely on this, that the staff would not have handled it nearly as well as they did had they not had the benefit of your teaching and training. I am particularly grateful for the letter that you wrote to all the staff when you heard the news. This gave them a legitimate way to frame the situation and to hold the space open for the best solution to unfold. This letter was not part of our original contract and you were not asked to do it. However, your personal concern and willingness to stay involved was very much appreciated. |
